Rich in Victorian history, the Maryborough Railway Station was built in the 1890’s and features cafes, restaurants and a museum. The station is National Trust classified and on the Victorian Heritage Register. Well worth a visit!
A short drive away (under 30 minutes) is the Cairn Curran Reservoir. Built between 1947-1956, the Cairn Curran Reservoir is primarily an irrigation reservoir but has also come home to a yacht club and popular for water sports -water skiing and jet skiing. Great spot for a picnic, BBQ and fishing!
Close by is Paddy Ranges State Park, a beautiful box-ironbark forest that has over 230 series of wildflowers and over 140 native bird species. The park is named after “Paddy” who was a miner who roamed the area in the 1800’s. Features picnic tables, fire pits, BBQs and toilet facilities. Good for bushwalking, bird watching and hiking.
