If you have chosen to stay at Motel Ningana, you might be pleased to learn that there are a number of attractions in the nearby area for you to enjoy. There is something for visitors of all ages and all walks of life.

You cannot visit the Mudgee region without partaking of some of the delicious beers and wines that we are known for. Popular wineries include: Optimiste Wines, Lowe Wines, Gooree Park, Moothi Estate Vineyard and Cellar Door, Robert Oatley Vineyards, Burrundulla Vineyards, Logan Wines, Bunnamagoo Estate Wines, Di Lusso Estate and Farmer’s Daughter Wines. We also recommend Mudgee Brewing Co and the Baker Williams Distillery.

Local Produce

The Mudgee region is also known for its mouth-watering local produce, so we definitely recommend stopping for a bite or two! Check out the High Valley Wine & Cheese Co (with onsite cheese factory), Rylstone Olive Press (for the finest and freshest olive oils), Saffron Kitchen (for Australian-grown saffron and saffron-infused products), and Mudgee Honey Haven (try all the different flavoured honeys). There are also plenty of amazing restaurants to dine at.

If you are the kind of person who loves exploring the great outdoors, Mudgee is the holiday destination for you! Some of the attractions we recommend include: Frog Rock (a granite formation that looks like a frog), Robertson Park, Lawson Park, Castle Rocks walk (4km one way), Nullo Mountain, Munghorn Gap Reserve, Moolarben Picnic Area, Capertee National Park, Ferntree Gully Reserve, Goulburn River National Park and Dunns Swamp (to name a few).

If you are more interested in the history of Mudgee, however, there are also plenty of attractions for you to enjoy. Some of our favourites include: Kandos Bicentennial Industrial Museum (which has a strong focus on the region’s cement industry), Prince of Wales Opera House (the oldest still-operating opera house in the Southern Hemisphere), Gulgong Symbol Trail, and the Henry Lawson Centre (exhibits the life of author, Henry Lawson).

Family Friendly

When travelling with the kids, we understand the importance of finding activities that they will also enjoy. Fortunately, there is plenty to keep little ones amused in the area, including: Mudgee Observatory (stargaze and monitor the skies), Mudgee Honey Haven (watch the bees at work or play a round of putt putt golf), Windeyer (pan for gold and gems), Mudgee Miniature Railway (steam, petrol and electric trains) or take a day trip to Dubbo Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

Art & Culture

Those who don’t mind a bit of art and culture will not be disappointed. The local galleries include Art and Crafts Mudgee, Fairview Artspace and Indigiearth. Each of these galleries regularly shows exhibits from local and visiting artists. If you happen to be in town, we also recommend checking out the Huntington Estate Music Festival. It’s held across five days and there is a range of concerts (coupled with delicious meals) available for booking.
