Art lovers should definitely wander through Kurri Kurri’s murals, which offer visitors the opportunity to discover the history of the region visually. Guided tours are available everyday of the week and are highly recommended for the historical information and personal stories. Bookings are essential, so ensure that you get in early to get your desired time. Every mural incorporates a kookaburra, which is a symbol of the town, so see if you can spot them!


If your stay coincides with the weekend, you should definitely take the opportunity to explore one of the local markets. The Kurri Kurri Community Market is held on the second Saturday of each month and provides ample opportunity to purchase some delicious local produce (including homemade preserves and natural soaps). In nearby Maitland, their local market is held on the first Sunday of each month (extra markets held October to December).


Those who don’t mind a round or two of golf will enjoy exploring the handful of beautiful courses in the area. The Kurri Kurri Golf Club warmly welcomes visitors, either for a social round or in one of their competitions (held Tuesday to Sunday, with a special ladies clash on Wednesdays). The Maitland Golf Club offers 18 holes and delicious dining a la carte dining facilities, whilst the Singleton Golf Club offers 9 holes and restaurant.

If you are the kind of person who enjoys sampling the culinary delights that a region has to offer, we recommend paying a visit to the Morpeth Brewery and Beer Co in nearby Maitland, which was the first of the River Port Brewing Company’s breweries. If you are more of a wine person, we also recommend checking out Hollydene Estate Wines and Vines Restaurant, Catherine Vale Wines, and Wyndham Estate, all in nearby Singleton.


Love to explore the great outdoors? There is plenty to do in the area surrounding Kurri Kurri! Try your hand at the East Maitland Heritage Walk, the Singleton Heritage Walk or Howes Trail (a massive 30km one way). Lake Sinclair is the perfect destination if you’re interested in swimming, sailing, water skiing and fishing (to name a few of the popular activities). The Bulga Bridge over Wollombi Brook and the Middle Falbrook Bridge over Glennies Creek are also nice spots.
