The Best Wineries To Visit When Staying At Motel Accommodation In Geelong

Over the last few decades, winemakers have been rediscovering the rich soils and favourable climate of the region.   • Austins & Co

Located around 20 minutes drive from Geelong, this winery showcases hand-crafted wines from the Austin family’s own vineyard. They are known for their Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Shiraz. The cellar door is currently only open the first weekend of every month, but this will be increased in the future. Masterclasses are also available.

  • Bellarine Estate

With amazing views over Corio Bay, this vineyard is nestled in a valley that shelters it from harsh winds yet provides it with ample access to the sun’s rays. Bellarine Estate can be reached in about half an hours drive from Geelong. As well as delicious wines, beers from Two Wives Brewery are also available for tastings.

  • Otway Estate Winery & Brewery

If you don’t mind a bit of a road trip, this vineyard can be reached in just over an hours drive. The estate is home to a winery, brewery and café so there is plenty to keep you occupied. The cellar door is only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but a range of wines, beers and ciders are available for tasting whilst you take in the views.

  • Shadowfax Winery

Known as one of Australia’s leading boutique wineries, Shadowfax is about 45 minutes drive from Geelong. The cellar door is open daily, providing you with ample tasting opportunities. There’s also an onsite restaurant serving delicious antipasto and cheese platters alongside woodfired pizzas and amazing desserts.

  • Terindah Estate

Located about half an hours drive from Geelong, this vineyard is known for its award-winning wines, tasty food and stunning architecture. Take a stroll after your tasting is complete. The indoor and outdoor spaces offer uninterrupted views across Corio Bay to Geelong and Port Philip Bay to Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.
